Leon Redbone
This little ditty was recorded at M&I Studio in NYC. Incidentally, that's the same place where I met my future wife a few years earlier;-).
Ringo Starr shares the vocals with Leon. I'm singing on the choruses. I never met Ringo in person ( Damn you, technology!)
Leon's deep, deep well is music from the 1920s and 1930s. This song is a wonderful example from that period (1933), and an excellent example of a pop tune that can be accused of misappropriating a culture's identity. However, it's so catchy that any malice has to be forgiven;-).
I want to also mention that the amazing Cindy Cashdollar is playing dobro.
