Annea, and her partner, Ruth Anderson, were my professors in Grad school. I will be eternally grateful for the white light of clarity they shined upon me regarding the creation and organization of sound—in other words, Music.
Annea's work has taken her often to field recordings of environmental sounds, later to be organized and edited. The map room in the Hudson River Museum features her recording of the Hudson. She's gone on to record the Danube, as well as here, the Housatonic River in Connecticut.
I mastered the final edit of the Housatonic piece.
This work is a wonderful illustration of Edgar Varese's definition, "Music is organized sound."
Annea would laugh at me for stating that;-)
