Rod Stewart
This Gershwin & Kern song was written in 1944 as a Rita Heyworth and Gene Kelly number from the film, "Cover Girl". Recorded over the years by many, many singers, Rod's Platinum selling version is as good a recording as just about all the others—not the least because it includes the oft neglected opening verse, "Dreary days are over, life's a four leaf clover, sessions of depression are through…" with Jerome Kern's melody snaking through several emotionally effective quick change modulations.
My work was to upgrade Deep Diner Studios and record all the tracks and many of the guest artists for all the songs for the album. All while recording two albums for singer/producer Steve Tyrell, and Regis Philbin's Christmas Album.
